Email us to request deletionWhat data is deleted and what is kept
The table below describes what happens to each type of data when you delete your account.
| Data type | What happens | Retention period |
|---|---|---|
| Financial records | Deleted All transactions, budgets, goals, accounts, bills, debts, and categories are permanently deleted from our cloud database. | Deleted immediately on request |
| Account & identity | Deleted Your email address, display name, profile image, and authentication credentials are permanently deleted. | Deleted immediately on request |
| Usage analytics | Deleted Analytics events linked to your account are deleted. | Deleted immediately on request |
| Subscription records | Kept by provider Purchase history is retained by the App Store (Google Play) and our subscription provider (RevenueCat) for legal and billing compliance. We cannot delete these records on your behalf. | Per Google Play / RevenueCat policies |
| Crash & error reports | Kept briefly Crash reports may be retained by our crash reporting service (Sentry) for a limited period for debugging purposes, after which they are automatically deleted. | Up to 90 days (Sentry policy) |
| Data on your device | On-device only Data stored locally on your device (offline cache, local backups) is not automatically removed when you delete your account. To remove it, uninstall the Stash app from your device and delete any backup files you have exported manually. | Until you uninstall the app |
| SMS messages (basic detection) | On-device only Basic bank SMS detection processes messages entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded for this mode — there is nothing for us to delete. | N/A — never stored by Stash |
| AI SMS Categorization data | Deleted If you enabled the optional AI SMS Categorization feature, matched SMS text may have been sent to our servers for AI processing. Any server-side records derived from this feature and tied to your account are deleted when your account is deleted. Note: third-party AI providers may retain data briefly under their own policies; we cannot guarantee immediate deletion from those vendors. | Deleted on account deletion (third-party retention may apply) |
After your account is deleted
- You will be signed out of the app immediately.
- You will no longer be able to sign in with the same email address.
- Any active Stash Pro subscription must be cancelled separately through Google Play — deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription or entitle you to a refund.
- If you wish to use Stash again in the future, you will need to create a new account. Previously deleted data cannot be recovered.
